Lorie Lewis-Ham: Author, Singer, Storyteller, Speaker
Lorie Lewis-Ham has been singing and writing most of her life.
She sang with her family, the Leon Lewis Family, since the age of 5 and during that time was featured on television, radio and toured with groups such as the Blackwood Brothers, Kingsmen and the Speer Family. Lorie recorded several albums with her family.
Since going solo in her early 20’s, she has recorded three albums, “Just Pray” and “Reach For Your Faith”, and recently released here latest entitled “Different”.
Her solo ministry has taken her across the country into many different denominations and into schools, libraries and writer’s conventions thanks to her published mystery novels. Even at her book signings, she is asked to sing. Her first song was published at the age of 13 and her albums contain mostly original material. Lorie’s style is hard to pin down, as it is a mixture of contemporary, jazz, big band and traditional Gospel. Samples of her music can be found on her Facebook page.
As a writer, Lorie has published in many venues — poems, songs, short stories, journalist, book reviewer, magazine articles and five mystery novels. She wrote for her local newspaper off and on for around 10 years. Four of her five mystery novels feature a gospel singer and draw on Lorie’s own background. Sample chapters of those can be found on her writing blog. One of her novels, “Deadly Discrimination”, is currently being serialized in “Kings River Life Magazine“.
As of 2010, Lorie has felt God leading her in a new direction with her ministry by combining both of the gifts God has given her and incorporating her writing into her program. She now tells a story within her concerts called “Different” that is inspirational and challenging-providing a unique twist to her ministry by adding the age old art of storytelling.
Lorie is available for much more than just concerts. She has spoken on discrimination, animal rescue, using the talents God has given you to minister within your own church and town and creative writing. Lorie has spoken and sung for women’s retreats (where she can also lead worship), meetings, banquets, church services, revivals, and more.
As busy as she is, her top priority remains her family. Lorie has been married for 20 years to Larry Ham, a Christian radio producer. Their teenage children Jessica and Joseph sometimes travel with her.
Lorie generally comes on a love offering basis, though this may vary depending on the distance to the church/event from her home in Reedley, CA.
